Description
Boya Tower is located on a hill in the southeastern corner of Weiming Lake. It adopts the shape of a Liao dynasty multi-eaved brick tower. This special treatment of a building in a scenic area is a masterpiece that highly integrates its functional use, artistic design, and harmonious environment.
The design of Boya Tower refers to the Burning Lamp Tower in Tongzhou. The Burning Lamp Tower has thirteen tiers and is “280 feet high and 140 feet in circumference, with a hollow center”. Boya Tower also has thirteen tiers, but it is smaller than the Burning Lamp Tower, standing only 37 meters high and also has a hollow center. It has a spiral staircase leading straight to the top of the tower. Except for the base, the tower is made entirely of reinforced concrete, a testament to its exquisite design.
