Description
I was searching for a nice looking and hignh led floor lamp. Those I found were short, not so smart and not so cheap so I decided to make one (now two) by myself.
The base is designed for a specific aluminium profile that will be provided as link, the lamp can also be made sound reactive.
You will need those parts:
- Smart adressable LED strip (12V in my case so I don't have any voltage drop at the end of the 2m strip, if you go shorter maybe 5V can be ok) https://www.btf-lighting.com/products/1-ws2815-dc12v-led-pixels-strip-light-dual-signal?variant=45876724662498 (2pcs to make the 2m version)
- Wi-fi controller, use a wemos D1 mini sized board (esp8266 (sound reactive unavailable) or better esp32 (sound capable)) https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005005972627549.html? (I used the CH9102)
- Voltage regulator to bring the voltage from 12V to 5V to not fry the controller https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005006591454607.html?
- Power supply, a 12V 60W (5A) is enough for what we need https://www.amazon.it/dp/B08P2386BX?ref=nb_sb_ss_w_as-reorder_k3_1_4&=&crid=1S6AENYXAB0UA&sprefix=alim&th=1 (You will need to remove the plastic housing to make it fit inside the base
- Aluminium profile https://store.ledpro.it/profili-per-strisce-led/profili-piatti-per-strisce-led/profili-piatti-per-strisce-led-verniciati-neri/profilo-doppio-alluminio-verniciato-nero-lineare-strisce-led-opalina-traparente-tecnico.html (I went for the black one, pick what you like)
- 230V cable, I had one laying around (a flat one). If you need bigger hole tell me and I can make a base for your specific cable
- Two small wood screws to secure the aluminium profile from the bottom of the base
- Optional weights to give more stability to the base, I used some metal rings that I had around, cement could be a practical option
- Optional microphone https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005006028880279.html? (only if you use the ESP32 microcontroller)
- Some wires and a soldering iron to make good connections
Once you have everything you just need to flash Wled https://kno.wled.ge on the ESP board, make the few required connections (the base has some pre-made holes for better and easier wiring), hot glue everything in place and setup the board with the total number of leds and their consumption and you will be good to go!
If you have any question I'm here to help you!
