I have a big head (I wear a XXL hat size normally) and wanted a version that would fit my huge noggin. I cut the original model into parts to maximize the size as much as possible in the 256x256 bed. The resulting fit is perfect, with just enough room to spare for helmet padding so that the helmet would stay snug when moving around.

KNOW BEFORE YOU PRINT:

  • This model will require some very simple assembly and you will want to use superglue. I recommend the thicker type superglue as it is easier to work with (gorilla glue makes a good gel version)
  • The three main plates needed to print are the top and bottom of the helmet, and then also the pegs to join those two pieces together
  • I left supports in place on the helmet top piece - if you want to try printing without them you can remove the support enforcer in bambu studio
  • One plate has a ‘fit checker’ you can print in case you want to double check that this will fit your head. If it goes over your head comfortably you should be ok. No guarantees though.
  • It takes roughly 700g of filament to print this model

I also added a few extras not included in the original model:

  • Black screen to hide your face - print and cut to size, then super glue inside. This is a really nice touch and lets you see out but others not easily see in. It is also very breathable.
  • Flashlight clip! Clips on the right side of the helmet. Works with a 20mm diameter flashlight but you could play with the scaling if you needed to in bambu studio

Recommended padding:

  • Adding helmet padding is a must if you plan on wearing this. You could probably do some DIY version but I just decided to get a generic helmet padding kit and make it work. I ended up buying https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C8N9R5CW this kit and then used most of it. See the pic to see how I placed the pads inside. The result is a very nice and secure fit, it does not bobble around at all when I move my head.
