This is a 1:14 scale model of the Cold War era Mk 82 500lbs Air Braked bomb. This “dumb” bomb (with no guidance system) would be dropped with the fins fold up, then immediately after release, the fins would spring open creating drag (like a parachute) and slowing the fall rate of the bomb. This was necessary because at the time it was common for aircraft to drop bombs at very low altitudes to stay under the radar, so if your bombs didn't have air brakes, they would hit the ground and explode before you could get away, which could result in a downed aircraft.
This model snaps together for easy assembly – no glue is required. Compared to some of my other models, this one has a little bit smaller parts due to the subject of this model, but it will still snap together with no issue at 100% scale.
Filaments used were Bambu Matte Dark Green, Matte Yellow, and Silk Silver.
