Description

The Fur-Rake effectively dislodges pet fur from fabric and carpets, to be sucked straight into your vacuum.

I found that Dyson’s existing heads use bristles that struggle with stubborn fur, and the bulkier hair screw tool doesn’t attach to hoses and has trouble with shorter fur from pets like golden retrievers, limiting its use cases.

I designed the Fur-Rake to be a non-motorized solution to this problem, by using hard raking teeth to dislodge fur and hair from fabrics, for easy suction by the attached nozzle.

Three versions are available:

  • Direct attachment onto the vacuum
  • Hose attachment for more flexible use (Apply pressure with your thumb, followed by a quick flick of the wrist to dislodge the fur)
  • Hose attachment with Soft TPU brush insert (The soft TPU brush insert helps to dislodge more stubborn fur, while the hard plastic rake teeth works better for coarser fur/hair, and provides support for the soft brush.) 

Support threshold angle set to 25°. Print at 20° for greatly reduced supports, if you're confident.

Print in PETG for best durability and flexibility (for button attachment).

Not recommended for use on delicate fabrics or clothes, as rake-teeth may cause damage.

I don't have a Dyson vacuum but noticed this was very close to a standard 32mm size so printed at 103% and it's a perfect fit for my Dewalt DCV501 cordless vac. It works really well and seems nice and strong.

I love this! I was literally just thinking about how there are so many things on here that with slight adjustments would be useful for other things or similar connections.

@PeterJohnson the real hero in the comments section - thanks for taking the time to post this. Exact same scenario on my hands and getting any attachments just right has been difficult; measuring any of them in Bambu Studio I usually end up with 4 different diameter layers to choose from + direct measurements, so this is very helpful!

While I like the concept and functionality of this vacuum attachment, the curvy nature of the design and resultant print profile is not very printer friendly. The bottom of the print profile has very low curvy bits that require support will never look nice when printed using this profile. I uploaded a new print profile that cuts off the curvy bit against the plate so it will print flat. The rest of the print is OK with curviness but 3D models for FDM are best done with chamfers or straight edges, not curves against the build plate. I love the concept though and will be boosting you. Anything functional is awesome! For future designs, think about how the printer will handle those low overhangs.

The hose attachment version fits the Dyson V6 directly. Labels printed on Brother P-touch E550W. Fantastic.

It looks fantastic! I printed it in PLA, and I'm managing my expectations. The design is first rate, and I enjoyed watching it being printed. Thank you so much for taking the time to not only make a super useful tool, but also for blending in the design cues from the manufacturer and then taking it to another level.
