Description

VERSION 2.0 Now Available!  Deeper slots and base, easier assembly, 3 print profiles offer larger sizes for larger printers.

If this is your first time printing this model, I highly recommend following the link to v2.0, only print this if you are expanding upon an print of this earlier model.

A completely customizable NES cartridge holder. This organizer stores your cartridges vertically to help you save space. This is designed to print on the A1 Mini, and can be printed to any height. Plus, it allows you to store the cartridges either with or without the sleeves that the games originally came in. In fact, the shape of the organizer resembles a NES cartridge sleeve itself, just looser and shorter so that the game's labels aren't covered and can't get scratched up when putting them into the holder. The holders are also printed at a slight incline to prevent the games from falling out.

For adjusting the height, it's simple. Plates 1-7 feature “bottom” models of varying heights that are designed to hold between 1-7 games. The first thing you want to do is to print one of these “bottoms” at your desired height. After that, plates 8-14 feature “top” models, which are also designed to hold between 1-7 games. These “tops” are designed to be glued on top of a “bottom” or on top of another “top”. So if you want a 16 game organizer it's simple, print a 7 cartridge bottom, 7 cartridge top, and 2 cartridge top, then glue together. Or if you pick up a new game in the future, you can easily print a 1 cartridge top to add to your existing organizer. I've provided the heights of each model in the plate's name, always rounding up to the nearest 1/8th of an inch so that you can be sure that what you print will fit in the space you intend to put it.

The bottoms do feature 2 colors as you have the gray organizer with a red Nintendo logo on top. If you don't have an AMS, you can easily insert a pause here so that you can swap out the filament, or you can simply remove the color change and print it in one solid color.

Hey! These came out awesome. Any thoughts on one for Sega genesis? There's a couple out there but none are vertical like yours.

turned out great! I’m not sure the best way to attach the top parts though. wish there was some sort of a groove or slot to slide it together. but I’ll super glue them I guess. thanks for the design.

It looks good. I went without the groove this time as it allowed me to make it thinner so you wouldn’t notice it’s two pieces glued together. You do get a bit of help as the sides have a slight curve, but unfortunately it doesn’t do a lot. But what I did was use clamps to hold the pieces together and just kind of moved them into place until I got it right. I’m still learning every time I design these and am working on getting a “perfect” solution.

Man, I have over 400 NES carts that are already stored nicely. but, I want to stack them horizontally without the one above falling down…this print would be perfect for this with or without the bottom. And it’s nice that they are big enough to hold the cart sleeves too. it’s gonna be a ton of filament, so here goes!

Flawless print and classic design as it should be for retro 😍

Great stuff! The base is the extended remix, with a 6+7 top on the left and a 6 top on the right.

Is there a reason you don't have the bottom extended out past the games so you can see the logo when the slots are filled? It would also add more stabilization.

Yeah, I originally designed it that way but the prints were using an absurd amount of filament. This is the third cartridge holder I've designed, and every time I learn a little bit more. While I'm happy with some aspects of it, there are others that I hope to improve. That said I do plan on revising this, as well as my other cartridge holders. I'm a bit busy working on other stuff right now, but it is certainly an update I plan to make in the not too distant future (I'm trying to clean up my game collection so I do need to print these).

I made a remix of yours with some slight tweeks. It's my first time making a remix, please let me know if I properly affiliated you to it.

I just checked it out, and yes, I'm perfectly happy with how you attributed it to me. I actually feel honored as this is the first time I've been remixed! It looks great.
