AMS Drying Chock
Print Profile(3)

Description

Tired of re-dehydrating your desiccant bags? Sick of pre-drying filament rolls before every print? If you’re like me, you love experimenting with different materials but often skip over ones like Nylon because the drying process is just too much of a hassle.
That’s where the AMS Drying Chock comes in. I designed this little wedge-shaped chock to keep the door of your BambuLab AMS system slightly open while allowing you to pump in hot air from a commercial filament dryer or a DIY PTC heater + fan setup. The result? Continuous, active filament drying for all your rolls—right inside the AMS.
No more manual drying steps. No more giving up on certain materials. With this mod, you can integrate active filament drying directly into your AMS setup, ensuring every filament is perfectly dry and ready to go whenever you are.

To install this, you will need to print the following parts:
1 x AMS Drying Chock (Left half)
1 x AMS Drying Chock (Right half)
1 x Duct Adapter (which size you print depends on what ducting you buy). I used a 60mm duct, which worked well. In addition to the 60mm size, I have uploaded alternative 42mm, 50mm and 75mm sizes available.
You will also need to self-supply or purchase the following:
- Heated active filament dryer, I used an “EIBOS 3D Cyclopes Dual Filament Dryer”. I have made an adapter for this for the 60mm duct only, and uploaded file in case you have the same dryer or intend to purchase. Otherwise, a custom solution will need to be devised to get the air to duct in to the chock.
- Small-diameter semi-rigid ducting (often called “Diesel Heater Ducting” or "Diesel Heater Exhaust"). I recommend 60mm in size. You should be able to get it at a hardware store but I purchased mine from Aliexpress: https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005006247536535.html
- Hose clamps or some beefy zip ties to hold the duct in place.
