Description

This model is almost a replica of Gustaf Westman's "Chunky Vase" which is quite a pricy made-to-order glass vase. If you'd like to see the original, here's a link to their site: https://www.gustafwestman.com/product-page/chunky-vase

The vase itself is about 22cm tall and the stand adds another 4cm. I tried to keep all the proportions as close to the original as possible. Although, some of them were a guessing game.

This model took about 13h to print on my Bambu Lab P1S. It's quite massive.

Please make sure to print with at least 4 wall loops & at least 5 bottom layers to minimize water absorption. Be careful printing this with random seams. I thought it was going to smooth them out but it made them pop up even worse (see last image). Due to the nature of the shape some sanding & treatment would also help improve the overall smoothness of the shapes.

Hi! Would you be able to share what filament you used? I loved this color.

I wish I could. I'm sorry no clue. I'd assume some sort of pastel pink filament.

Proportions are good, but surface is super rough with 'random seam' on and visible lines everywhere.

Hi, I know. That's what I mentioned in the description.

It's mainly for others, I noticed there wasn't a close up shot anywhere.

I'm a little disappointed because the vase comes out well mechanically, but the base is full of defects Despite the supports underneath, it turns out a bit poorly and the top has an unpleasant finish In the end, it's acceptable, it's not a complete print failure, but I'm sorry about the 12 hours of printing and 635g of filament wasted

Hi @Waster00 like all neatly polished 3D prints, I suggest you take some sanding paper & do some post-print polish on it. My initial one also came out a bit rough, I think I will upload a v2 soon, as people have trouble with the finish often.

V2 is now up & fixed these issues. The bottom might still have slight issues but the top should be more refined.

I don’t know what happen but mine didn’t work… I’m so sad. The vase print very good but the vase plate don’t and I tried twice.

Hi. I am no expert but it might be related to the filament dryness or extrusion. I see the bottom rows which should've printed way smoother also have this weird texture. Might be worth checking some threads regarding this issue if it persists. I printed several of these and it was always fine.

hello I tried the v2, the vase on top comes out perfectly, the bottom previously had defects but now I can't even print it. did you do any tests? is there something I'm forgetting? this is the third print that has gone like this, I also tried adding supports

Printed for me with very small base issues, but that was just on the surface area which was on a high overhang and because of the material which was trasparent PETG. I just slowed down the print slightly. Your print looks like it failed because of the adhesion. Please try v1 for the base then. Just make sure to align the seams so you don't get the seams spread.

What do you mean by unprintable ? Me and the people that already posted here are proof that this is not the case. If you'd describe your problem I might be able to give you an idea on why yours went wrong.
