D5x2 mm Round Magnet (20PCS) - CA003
BT2x10 BHCS Self Tapping Screw (20PCS) - AA214

Description

Iron man briefcase

Size is around 25cm x 17cm.

It uses the following parts:

  • Up to 11 5x2mm magnets - Its quite strong with 11 magnets so I would suggest starting with 4 and then seeing how many you need. Add them at the end of assembly
  • 10 M2x10mm self tapping screws
  • 6 M2x10mm nut and bolt - optional but if holes are there if you want a bit more strength. It works fine without them.

Insert coming soon, I have yet to test print it.

Assembly Instructions:

  • Fit the top shell parts, 2 red parts and 1 silver part per each side. They press fit together. You can add your m2 nut and bolts here if you like.
  • Add the side, hinge and top pieces, screw them in with the M2 self tapping screws.
  • Hinge is print in place and should break free with a bit of force. Needs to be loosened up by moving it around a bit and will eventually be quite free
  • Assemble the side parts, they snap fit together and they snap into place to the holes on the red shell. See the assembled photos for their orientation
  • For the rectangle pieces match them to their numbers.
  • Add three magnets are first to check the strength and then add any extras as needed. They should press fit it but if they are loose you can add some superglue underneath.

Clasp Instructions:

If you do not wish to use magnets you can use the optional clasp inside. This is a sliding mechanism. You will need superglue to attach this to the briefcase.

  1. Glue the larger part on first. This part goes on the inside closest to the handle. Ensure the notch is towards the outside of the case. The notch is subtle but you should be able to feel it.
  2. Slide on the clasp onto the part you have glued on. This might be tight as first but will smoothen out as you use it.
  3. Glue on the final four parts, these go toward the edge of the case. Make sure the angled sides are facing towards the edge of the case so the clasp can slide across.

To lock it just slide the clasp to the outside of the case. And to unlock slide the clasps in towards the handle.

This, is one of the best models i have come across. The attention to detail, and ease of construction is spot on, and a joy to do. Thank you!

What are the inner sizes? I bring my food to work and wanna see if my boxes would fit. Also do you have any plans to make a model with clips instead of magnets?

It is quite small on the inside, I will measure the inside and let you know. As for the clasp I will try a clasp version

The limiting factor is probably the depth, you can fit something up to 3cm height, the length is around 20cm and the width around 10cm. If you would like, I can make a version with more height and a clasp

I need something that has at least 9.5 cm space inside but I also think if you can make something with a clasp anyone can adjust the dimensions for their needs, right?

Can’t see the reactor on the front plate in the pictures - is it there?

No there is no reactor on the suitcase. It is based off of the one from Iron Man 2 and I don't think that had the reactor on it

super nerdy guy here, Tony's reactor is in his chest, so it there wouldnt have been one on the briefcase.

I printed this over a year ago and my son still uses it to store Beyblades. It's holding up really well.
