Description

5/15/25 Update - Updated handle and back cover to move screen even closer to help with NFC connection. Screen is now  1.5mm away from the front of the handle.

12/4/24 Update - Updated models to move screen 3mm closer to the front of the tap handle.

This is a re-design of my original tap handle using a 2.7" e-Paper module. The example in the pictures was printed on a carbon fiber look textured build plate.

Changes from the original version include no longer needing to pause the print to place nuts into the main handle, easier assembly, and a version with a chamfered edge or radius edge.

No supports are needed to print.

Once printed a 3/8-16 nut is placed in the back of the tap handle and the nut cover is snapped in to place. Glue can be used along with the snap fit you'd like.

The e-Paper module is located in the tap handle by 4 standing bosses. The back cover holds the e-Paper module in place and is attached to the main handle by an M3x8mm flathead bolt. This bolt will form the threads into the tap handle when screwed in. Be careful not to strip out the threads.

Would it be possible to modify to use this Amazon.com : Santek EZ Sign NFC E-Paper Digital Name Badge – Unlimited App Updates, Battery-Free 0.13” 4-Color Display, Reusable, Android/iOS/PC (Black, 2.9 inch) : Office Products epaper version? Not only is it less expensive than the one you used but is 4 color. It would be a great addition to our tap collection.

I came across the e-Paper Tap Handle Version 2 and honestly… what a brilliant idea 🤯 It takes a simple tap handle and turns it into a clean, smart display using an e-paper screen — no messy setup, super sleek, and just cool. You can tell a lot of thought went into this. The design feels refined, practical, and made by someone who actually builds and improves their own stuff 🔧 The little details really show. And let’s be real… this hits perfectly if you’re the kind of person who enjoys dialing in your setup. Instead of boring labels, you’ve got a dynamic display you can update — that’s next level 😎 This isn’t just a print. It’s a conversation starter. 🍺🔥 Perfect for anyone who loves 3D printing, enjoys tech, and takes their beer seriously 😄

Thanks for the great review/comment! Check out my new version for a 4-color ePaper screen that I also have posted recently. https://makerworld.com/en/models/2562962-4-color-e-paper-beer-tap-handle-printed-thread

I printed the V2 of the tap handle which came out looking awesome. I never knew about e-paper until this model. Thanks!

Printed in PLA+ with a clean, modern design and built to showcase each pour perfectly. The e-paper labels take it to another level—crisp, readable, and easy to update depending on what’s on tap.

Great Project! Just what I've been looking for! I spent a few days tinkering with the two designs. Any chance you could incorporate the tap nut design and nut cap in V1 along with having both screw tabs for the back cover in both versions? (I'd sure like to understand how you created the nut cutout and cap!) I have added a feature where I can print a color printed label to use in place of the E-Paper module with a filler plate. And I also created a filler block with text in place of the E-Paper. Once my new 3D printer arrives, I'll print and upload a few pictures. Nice job!! The home brewers in the club are going to want to get their hands on these!

I can implement an additional screw hole on the back of this version, but had planned to leave the V1 design as is and move forward with this design for any changes/updates. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help you with what you're looking to use it for. Could you design your label plate to be the same size as the ePaper module and mounting holes so that it is held in place by the V2 design's back cover?

Thanks K-OS! I haven't made any changes to your designs. I am not changing the back cover plate, only copied and making it taller/thicker for my use. I'm waiting on a new bambu printer to print and share.

Do you have a skinny version of this thats closer to the width of the screen itself? I can only fit two of these on a 3 tap tower.,

I'll check this weekend how much narrower I could make it.

Looks like I can get it down to 52mm wide instead of 60mm. Would that be narrow enough for you?

Easy print. Much nicer than the V1 version in terms of assembly and overall fiddliness. :)
