Description

This thing is a work in progress, I've added a new print profile that works much better than previously.

Not finding any good, tight, ladder style picatinny rail covers I made this. I works pretty good, and it fits really tight. (seriously, really tight) I used zx82net's picatinny rail model to get the right dimensions. The current file is a ten rung, and two rung cover, but I can make others on request :)

Printing

No supports needed if your printer can do overhangs well.

Note; If you can't get the 10 rung to work (I warned you, it's tight) use the 2 rung file, it's much easier to press in.

Note #2; If that doesn't work print it out of TPU.

Boost Me (for free)

I'd love it if you consider leaving a boost, it helps me make more of my poorly thought out ideas come to life!

If you want to go a step further than that, I'd be beyond thrilled if you left me a tip on my Thingiverse page :D

First off, thank you for making this and this is a 5 star design! For me, I printed the small piece to test fit and found it was too tight and impossible to go on my rails without breaking. I only had to increase the x axis to 102.5% and it was perfect fit on mine.

Great to hear! Unfortunately this isn't a "one model fits all" due to different picatinny manufacturing standards, but as you said, changing the model a few percentages makes all the difference.

oof! Did that happen when you were putting it on or taking it off?

happened while trying to put it on... not sure whether it was a strength or tolerance issue, but PLA might not be the way to go about this.

Yeah it can happen, scaling the model up a few percentages will help a lot, due to differesnt manufacturers making the picatinny with slightly different dimensions it can be way too tight or too loose for some people, so it’s hard to make one that fits everything

Updated to say I printed four more of these with X axis set to 25 mm and they all fit snug but well. I’m not worried about them coming off nor am I worried about breaking them when they come off since I can quickly print more.

does not work. tried both plates and it's way too tight so that every single one broke trying to get it on.

I'm sorry to hear that. May I ask what type of filament you used?

print came out nice but they do have to be printed in a softer material to install without breaking. Couldn’t use them so will try again after I get correct filament

That's strange, PLA+ should've worked okay, interesting...

good profile . I tried in TPU with almost no setting changes and it worked well other than at the very end where there are small unsupported pieces but I just trimmed those off
