Description
After my orthognathic surgery, I wanted to create a model of the procedures I had done. I was unable to find a good model online. Of course, in order for it to most closely represent the surgery I had completed, I decided to use a model taken from my own skull. However, xrays are not meant to be 3D printed so it took some trial and error to get rid of extraneous objects and get things to print nicely.
I used 1.4mm screws for the maxillary plates and 2mm screws for the mandibular plates, however, because the plates and the original screws are both made of titanium, cleaning the plates was challenging and the holes were a little small. I made them larger after printing them with a hypodermic needle.
I do not have an AMS (yet) so each piece was spray painted and sanded.
