Display Plane - Senior Aircraft Design Capstone
Print Profile(0)
Description
This aircraft is the result of my college senior capstone course. I designed this plane from scratch over the course of a school year. This display model is a 1/5 scale of the RC aircraft I helped build and fly as part of the course. (The RC model was a 1/10 of the actual designed aircraft).
This display model was designed to be removeable from the stand. It requires assembly, I used superglue and it worked great. All components were made with Overture Matte PLA in black and regular PLA in Orange.
Print one of each .stl file.
I would recommend gluing the wings together first, the horizontal tail pieces together next, then gluing those subassemblies to the fuselage in the respective spots. The propellers simply glue onto the leading edge of the wing as shown in the pictures.
As for all my prints, I am using an Ender 3 Pro with a 0.4mm nozzle and upgraded boden tubing, springs, and a Creality glass print bed. I used Cura 5.4 software and the following settings to slice this model.
Print Settings:
- Layer Height: 0.2mm
- Nozzle Temperature: 215°C
- Bed Temperature: 55°C
- Initial Layer Speed: 20 mm/s
- Print Speed: 60 mm/s
- Retraction: Enabled
- Print Bed Adhesion: Skirt
- Infill: 25%
- Support: Only for propellers
Please reach out with questions and leave a comment down below if you try this out for yourself!
I am thinking about modeling more aircraft display models so please leave any suggestions on which planes I should model next.
