This filament spool shelf is designed for any cupboard or bookcase with shelf pin holes. No drilling or damage required

You can pick fron a number of print profiles optimized for IKEA BILLY, or adjust the model to your own needs so it fits your exact bookcase or cupboard.

 

 

 

HOW TO customize this model for any cupboard with existing shelf pin holes

  1. Click on the Customize button to enter Parametric Model Maker. 
  2. Measure the distance (in mm) between the center of the shelf pin holes on your cupboard. Enter this value into the pin distance field
  3. Measure the outer diameter (in mm) of the rods or pipes you want to use for your shelves and enter this value into the rod diameter field. 
  4. You don't need to change the rod tolerance and rod distance values. Increase rod tolerance if the fit is too tight.
  5. Click on Generate, then Download the model. 

 

 

 

 

 

This mount is very sturdy. I've used it for over two years fully loaded without issues. It prints well in PLA, but for extra durability, you can use PETG. If you're printing with ABS, consider adjusting dimensions slightly to compensate for shrinkage.

 

Make sure to use rods or pipes sturdy enough to support at least 12kg of filament without noticeable flexing. I use 15mm copper pipe for its strength and appearance, but PVC pipes or even wooden dowels can also work well.

 

 

BOM (per shelf):

  • two pipes cut to size *
  • four M3 x 16mm screws for the pins.

 

* Cut the pipe 2mm shorter than the inner width of your bookcase. Try to get it as close as possible as a tight fits helps with strenght. The M3 screws don't fit tightly in the holes on the inside of the bookcase, which is intentional)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You can make this mount work with any cupboard that has pin holes for shelves.  Though I wouldn't necessarily recommend storing filament in the sink base cabinet ;)
