Description

This modification allows the excellent Industar 50mm lens to be focused to infinity with Nikon cameras using a Nikon to 42mm adapter, (the type without the Hubble telescope type correction lens). It, also allows a degree of macro focus.

The modification is quite straightforward however after this modification the lens will unscrew from the focus helicoil after about 2 rotations when using the lens in macro (take care not to drop the lens).

To modify:

  1. Remove the front focus ring (3 screws) than line up the slot on the inner focus ring with the focus end stop peg,
Remove this peg and then unscrew the focus helicoil completely, then remove the 2 focus end stop pegs.
  2. Fit the 3D printed focus limiting 'C' ring, this ring is just a safety focus stop to prevent the lens from being able to screw to far into the camera body.
  3. Reassemble the lens onto the body and fit the 3D front ring, I printed this ring for a snug fit. The iris markings were photocopied from the original focus ring and stuck on with 50mm wide double sided tape, the text was covered with 50mm wide clear packing tape for protection.
