Description

I was looking for a way to mount my Aqara H1 smart switches on top of the existing light switches. As I couldn't find anything useful I decided to create my own version.

The Aqara switch can be pushed in from the top side and holds firmly in place without any adhesive strips. The design should be easily mountable on standard EU light switch inserts.

I used standard supports for the screw section as it's raised by 1mm to not interfere with the mounting plate beneath. When installing you want to make sure that the light switch inserts is firmly in place with the clamps on 2 sides. Otherwise you'll have a hard time to fit it.

Attention: This will only work for the fully wireless (flat backside) version of the H1 switch!

Boosted! Great idea! Can you make one that I can use as a spacer panel for my H1 wall switch that does connect?

Thank you for the boost. I am not quite sure I understand what you need. I'd be happy to help if you can elaborate ;)

no problem! it came out great! I have an Aqara H1 wall switch which is actually wired in. my back box is a little to small though so I need a spacer panel for it. I think it would be very similar to this design

Ah I see, as I don't have have one of those, would you be able to give me some measurements for the one you have? Is the problem around the mounting holes or is the general opening too tight?

A version with 4 screws would be great, or alternatively, a version that does not need to be screwed in as it fits into the boreholes at the top/bottom or left/right and can be "plugged in" or twisted.

@CheapSpoon A most compelling concept, which I anticipate would also function for my H1 switches on EU-compliant fixtures 🙂 My inquiry concerns the precise location within the flush-mounted enclosure for affixing the bracket screws The existing clips securely retain the original switch within the conduit box I discern no congruent holes in the recess box aligned with the bracket's perforations My recessed boxes feature screw receptacles at the zenith and nadir, contrary to the lateral placement requisite for this particular design => might an additional variant of the model be devised incorporating screw holes horizontally situated
