Description

If you like my design please don't forget to give me a boost!

This is an elevator for the upper part of your bambulab printer. This piece provides you with different functionalities, advantages and will solve or avoid many problems:

  • The PTFE will enter the extruder more vertically, without curves, which will avoid problems with the AMS when retracting and introducing filament. (You will not need extra tube guiding pieces that limit the movement of the head and can cause problems with its parts)

  • You avoid premature wear of the PTFE by preventing the PTFE tube from rubbing against the upper glass of the printer (you will have 30mm more upper separation).

  • You have a system that quickly allows you to create the ideal conditions to print the different types of filament:
    PLA --> open windows
    ABS --> closed windows
    You can choose what percentage to open on each side at your discretion.

see here for more information: https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/x1/manual/compatibility-and-parameter-settings-of-filaments

  • And also an important one: Aesthetically it looks very good and will keep the printer with a perfect appearance.

It is most advisable to print the pieces in ABS, because its heat resistance properties make it ideal. If you don't have Abs, PETG would also be perfectly valid. (you just have to change the type of material in the laminator and that's it).

I cannot recommend PLA in the medium-long term because it may suffer deformations if the temperature inside is > 45º, but if it does not have another material ahead you can do it (periodically check the integrity of the piece)

As for the sliding blind, it is a piece that is not easy to print, the skirt is essential for a successful print and that it does not come off in the print. You will then have to remove this skirt carefully so as not to leave traces and that it then enters and slides correctly inside the piece (ABS or PETG or similar is essential) (!! be careful, it is easy for it to crack horizontally)

I my case when printing with ABS I have encountered a problem with the contraction of the material, which has caused a shrinkage of the piece of 1.5-2mm in general, making the upper glass not fit. I have solved it without having to print everything again by creating some couplings that enlarge the piece. I upload them in case they are useful to someone. Of course, it is not essential to print it at first.

Surprised this printed so well with so few supports. Had a few loose strands on the hex holes, but looks good overall. Used Silver PETG, so it looks like it's just part of the printer. The sliders work, but don't slide great and are SO thin I wonder how long they'll last and how effective they'll be at holding heat in. The X1C isn't sealed to begin with, so maybe it won't make a difference. I kinda want to reprint them with a 0.8 nozzle, but I don't think I can get it all back apart too easily.

Very good design to prevent all the heat from getting trapped inside

hello! I don't think I deserve such a low rating! . Low grades harm the designer and take away their desire to work... 😫. A few days ago I repeated the printing without any problem, the problem is undoubtedly yours, what material are you printing it on?, is it damp?, is it old or new? Post photos please to help you

I've been using this for about 6 months and it's just one of those great mods that you almost forget wasn't standard with the printer but really should have been, I would consider this an essential for the X1C, great work!

Does this have enough clearance to add lighting?

It is not designed to put lights, but there is space on the front and back to add them glued. Please check the printing profile and decide for yourself. Thanks!
