Description

A model of my interpretation of dinosaur's bones system - but it's a simple jigsaw :)

What you basically need for this to work is the bones part and the sand - in which you will be inserting the bones. The box is optional, I created it because I didn't want to lose any bones somehow.

I arranged the bones part on the plate upside-down - in that way, you are getting the plate texture instead of the top surface print on the top of the bones. They are reversible though, so if you want - you can put this model back to its original position.

Please note that some bone parts are pretty small so this project may not be a good toy for little children.

You can see the proces of putting the model together in this video:

Btw, you can leave a like&sub if you want to support me on YouTube, thank you! ヽ(*・ω・)ノ~ ♡

Filaments I used and came out well:

  • Bambu PLA Basic (used for bones) - worked like magic <3
  • Polyterra PLA (used for sand) - needed a little more work to look good
  • Rosa 3D (used for box) - worked just fine

I also tried to print a test model of sand in Bambu PLA Basic and I must admit that it worked better than this Charcoal Black Polyterra you can see in the photo.

Test print available - one of print profiles is a small fragment of the sand plate which I found the most difficult to manage. If you are not sure if your filament will be compatible with this print - please print this test fragment first.

Printer I tested on: Bambu Lab P1S

Hotend: 0.4mm Stainless Steel

Print time: ~3,5h

Additional tools: not needed

Excellent and fast print, thank you! Flawless with Bambu Lab PLA Matte on the X1C. Unfortunately, only hidden images – they're already buried in the archaeological excavation site (children's birthday party)

My daughter absolutely LOVED this print! I printed the box in green (grass) the sand in brown (dirt), and then the bones in white. Came out amazing!

Picture isn't great, but turned out well. Recipient won't be happy, as only completion will get them their birthday gift and it took me a little while to get all of the parts of the spine in place 😉

Very nice print. We did a study on Triceratops and this printed well. The pieces are tiny but it looks nice. We are going to glue the pieces in so we don't lose any. Nice find. Thank you.

Awesome puzzle. Some parts are very small though. Printed mine in PLA basic green. PLA Matte White and PLA Matte Desert Tan. I’m going to reprint the bones with the model flipped as I don’t like the plate texture showing.
