Simple Strong Clamp

This 3D-printed clamp is a versatile tool for your workshop or DIY projects. The sample clamp was printed in PLA with two perimeter walls, ideal for light-duty tasks and small items.

Customize for Strength:

  • Walls/Perimeters: For heavy-duty use or larger projects, crank up the wall count to 6 or more. This dramatically increases the clamp's rigidity and load-bearing capacity.
  • Infill: Boosting infill to 20% creates a denser internal structure, further enhancing strength.
  • Material: PLA is a great starting point, but for the ultimate clamp, consider these options:
    • PLA with Carbon Fiber: This composite material offers exceptional stiffness and strength.
    • ABS: Another robust polymer known for its durability.
    • PETG: A good middle ground between PLA and ABS, offering strength and ease of printing.

Project Considerations:

Think about the intended use of your clamp. Are you joining thick pieces of wood with wood glue? Go for the strongest settings and materials. Just securing a few delicate components? PLA with standard settings might be sufficient.

Recommendations:

  • Maximum Strength: 6+ walls/perimeters, 20% infill, carbon fiber-filled polymer (or PETG/PLA for lighter loads)
  • Opening Size: Accommodates objects up to 55mm (2 inches) wide
  • Printing: No support needed
