Description

Magnetic adapter for corrugated/threaded dust hoses. Allows 40mm (1.5 inch) hoses to connect to 100mm outlets. Requires N52 grade 10mmx 3mm neodymium magnets. Has space for an O-ring for a better seal (I use 4mm thick nitrile ones off amazon but you could print one in TPU, ID: 97mm, OD: 105mm). I made this so that I could connect my Cen-tec hose from my sander to my main dust extraction system. Simply unscrew the friction fit adapter from the one end of the hose, then insert it into this adapter and the internal thread should hold it securely. This adapter can then attach magnetically to the port on the extractor. I also find this is useful for quickly cleaning my work surface after some hand sanding.
Also recommend a wall hook to rest/relieve strain on the hose. There is quite a lot of leverage on the magnetic connection so routing the hose to a hook first will prevent it popping off too easily. Having said that, I printed in PLA-CF and (if you do drop it…as I did…a few times…) the part can take a fair bit of punishment!
