I made this model of a weightlifter holding a rod with removable weights ranging from 5 to 25 kg, which can be used as coasters. The set includes a weightlifter figure and several weight plates that fit onto the rod. It's both functional and decorative, adding a fun touch to any space.
Instructions
First of all, yes, I am well aware that the 10kg plate is missing in the pictures. My green filament unfortunately ran out :(
Anywho, the model is easy to print and assemble!
Weightlifter
Designed to be printed without supports. The cutouts in the hands secure the rod, preventing it from coming loose. The rod can still slide left to right, but you can apply a dab of glue to keep it in place.
Rod
Printed in three pieces that screw together easily, thanks to the threaded design. Print the middle rod with a brim and ensure you print two of the sides.
Weights
Files are available for printing with and without an MMU/AMS system. For printing without, use the text models and simply change the color at a specific layer and then glue the weights to the base. You might need to adjust the size of the text models to fit the base, depending on your printer's accuracy.
Other files
Fusion 360 and STEP files for all models are included, allowing you to modify the text and model as you like. Right-click the sketch for the text (see image below) to make changes.
TODOs
I have more ideas to enhance the model. Feel free to vote in the comments for the ideas below, and I will prioritize them when I have time to expand the model:
- Add an Olympic Games logo to the base/stand.
- Integrate connections on the back of the weight plates to allow two coasters to fit together, creating a more authentic weight plate appearance.
- Include American units on the weights.
Happy printing :)
