Description

The door mechanism broke and the company told me they could not sell me a replacement part. I would need to purchase a new unit. I tried to glue the part back together with JB Weld and a couple pins but it broke yet again. So… 3D printing to the rescue.

I printed the part in ASA with supports. Came out pretty good and is working well. I chose ASA because I already has some and also the higher temperature resistance of it. Not sure I would use PLA. PTFE might work.

Print Setting:

  • OrcaSlicer 0.20 Standard
  • Walls Loops - 8
  • Top Shell Layers - 6
  • Bottom Shell Layers - 6
  • Infill - 30%
  • Infill Pattern: Gyroid

Direction:

  1. You will need to remove the two screw inserts and the center one by cutting away the plastic.
  2. Use a soldering iron to heat press them back in being mindful of original orientation.
  3. Make sure that the two screw inserts have the collar stick up and out. This is what the arms ride on. You may need to cut away any melted plastic that is on them.
  4. The insert with the ball bearing should just press out from the hole at the top.
  5. Press it back in the same way it came out.
