Description

A 3D topographic map of The Philippines with bathymetric ocean data.

This is a 6-color print, and requires atleast 1 AMS. (2 Is better, but I only have 1)

I have taken alot of care to paint in a way which avoids unnecessary waste, for a total of only 33 filament changes with default settings.

Frame:

This model is designed to fit into an IKEA RODALM 8x10 Inch (20x25 cm) frame: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/roedalm-frame-white-70548893. It fits very well inside, and I use a little superglue to secure it to the back. You can choose whether or not to use the included acrylic front.

The model could also be adapted to work with other frame sizes or on it's own without much issue.

Colors Used:

  • Dark Blue: PolyTerra Army Blue PLA
  • Light Blue: Bambu Matte Ice Blue PLA
  • Green: Bambu Matte Dark Green PLA
  • Beige: Bambu Matte Latte Brown PLA
  • Brown: Bambu Matte Dark Brown PLA
  • Grey: PolyTerra Fossil Grey PLA

*You should be able to achieve similar results with any sort of filament, but i recommend matte for a clean finish.

Recommended Settings:

Layer Height: 0.2mm (layer lines help accentuate the elevation, and reduce filament changes)

Brim width: 4mm (this print uses most of the build plate, brim is suggested to avoid warping)

It turned out great, didn't have two colors of brown so used same color for both brown/tan, and added some white text, still really liked the result. One tiny print error on lowest part of the trench where it didn't stick to build plate, but hard to notice without looking closely, but that was probably user error ;). My first time doing more than 4 color print and adding a pause to swap out filament, so I learned a lot. Thanks again!

Great print. would love an option to have a third color in the ocean to show a middle depth.
