Description

This is the LEGACY Underware system (for Multiboard).

For new installs, I now recommend Underware for openGrid — it uses less filament, it's cleaner and easier to mount the Underware and there are no licence restrictions for openGrid, so the community can do whatever they want with it and contribute however they see fit, without worrying about take-down requests.

Start here instead (recommended system)

Which version should I use?

Why I moved to openGrid

  • Cleaner geometry
  • Truly open source/no licence restrictions
  • Less filament required
  • Easier to mount the Underware

Moving from Multiboard Underware to openGrid

  • You cannot mix Multiboard Underware with openGrid
  • Channels are not cross-compatible
  • Best approach: start new zones with openGrid
  • Keep Multiboard areas where already installed

************************

Underware is the universal, open-source, modular, extensible and re-usable solution for managing cables, mini-pcs, usb devices…pretty much anything, anywhere!

Watch this video to find out more (although note I am using Multiboard here when I now recommend openGrid):

Key Points

  • Open-source design - The whole solution is open-source, so feel free to extend and come up with your own brilliant solutions.
  • Parametric files - I have parametric Autodesk Fusion files for anyone who's interested, just contact me on my site and I can share.
  • Printing - all files should be printable as they are - the only file that need supports is the curved table leg mount - and even then it's just a tiny tree support to hold the screw piece.

Base Multiboard grid that I used is available here:

Changelog:

  • v1.31 - Fixed T and X base heights (1mm variance) - thanks Don Pattee!
  • v1.32 - Added Fusion source files for Parametric Bracket and Channel Pieces. Aesthetic fix for base I-Channels also

Underware 2.0 now also released!! The key difference is that you can customise the channels to different lengths and widths! This is available for both the legacy Multiboard and the recommended openGrid using the customiser from Pedro Leite: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1329404-underware-for-opengrid-customizer-beta
