Description

Housing for an 8x8 LED matrix and Arduino Nano. I use it as a racing flag with SimHub.

This is what you need:

  • Printed parts
  • 8x8 LED-Matrix (WS2812B, 65.3x66.5mm)
  • Arduino Nano
  • 3x 60mm Cable
  • 2x M3x8mm
  • 2x M3x14mm
  • 4x M3x7mm and 2x M3x5mm threads to melt into the 3D printed parts
  • 2x M4 screw and T-slot nut for attaching to the aluminum profile

Make sure that the screws have a small head! Otherwise they bridge contacts of LEDs on the circuit board, which then no longer light up. Unfortunately I didn't have any other screws and I had to protect the contacts with hot glue

Instructions

1. Solder cable to LED matrix
2. Melt threads into the holes provided with a soldering iron
3. Insert the cable through the corresponding hole and insert the LED matrix into the upper part of the housing
4. Solder the cable to the pins of the Arduino Nano (5V, GND, PIN6)
5. Insert the Arduino Nano into the holder in the lower part of the housing
6. Use the M3 screws to screw the two housing parts together. Make sure that the long screws go where the bracket for the aluminum profile will be, which will be screwed tight at the same time
6. Bracket for the aluminum profile
7. Place the printed grid on the LED matrix
8. Place the diffuser on top. This must be glued in place if it does not stay in place on its own
9. Mount to the aluminum profile using M4 screws and T-slot nuts
10. Configure in SimHub and it is ready to use

So I put everything together and mounted it for my application. Of course, the case can also be used for other applications. Feel free to use it.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me! Otherwise, I hope you have fun building and using it!

I used a transparent filament. Here is an example: https://www.3djake.de/3djake/ecopla-transparent?sai=1954

I'm not quite sure because the filament has been lying around here for a long time. But I think it is this one: https://www.3djake.de/3djake/ecopla-transparent?sai=1954
