D4x2 mm Round Magnet (20PCS) - CA001

Description

If you like this model and it's not too much trouble, please hit the šŸ‘ button - it helps out a lot šŸ˜€

This is a doubled sided Planeswalker Loyalty counter for Magic the Gathering. It is 3 separate parts: a top, a bottom and a dial in the middle. There is also an included box that can hold 27x total counters (9x total slots with each slot holding 3x counters). For the counter itself:

  • The front side's dial goes from 1 to 10
  • The back side's dial goes from 11 to 20

Additional Hardware

The box and lid require (affiliate link) 12x magnets (4mm x 2mm). These are the exact magnets I used, but I've also linked the same sized magnets from Bambu Lab's store below in the Bill of Materials section. The counter itself does not require any additional hardware.

Assembly

Counter

The counter should snap together while allowing the dial to spin. It does take a bit of force to fully snap the pieces together. Apply pressure in the middle of the top and bottom when snapping together. Once snapped together, there shouldn't be any gaps between any of the pieces.

The dial is a bit tight so the number stays in place in case of an accidental bump or drop. For even more security, try adding a small drop* of super glue when snapping all the parts together. Be sure to line up both number openings on the front piece and the back piece before the glue fully cures.

* If you use too much glue, the glue will seep out onto the dial and become glued in place and not be able to spin. Ask me how I know that… šŸ˜‰

Counter Box

The lid of the box is intentionally loose to allow for easy opening and closing. Therefore, the counter box requires 12x magnets total (4mm x 2mm) to keep it securely closed. With the magnets, the lid is pretty strong. It requires quite a bit of shaking for the lid to slip off, so it should stay together inside of a backpack or whatever.

For my prints, the tolerance was perfect for pushing the magnets in without glue. Again, for more security, feel free to use a small drop of super glue. Make sure the magnets' polarities are correct!
