Description

Boost Me (for free)

if you like my models and want to support me, please consider donating a boost 🚀! I will be grateful. 🤗

Inspired by the math contest and by the appreciation you have shown me on the other models, I designed a new 3D Sculpture made up of 100 pyramids, which resembles the shape of a green valley 🌲. This time too, each pyramid is unique, is numbered on the bottom face from 0 to 99 and has a different shape that follows a mathematical formula in space. ⛰️

How to glue pyramids to the frame? 🌲

Some of you asked me how to glue the pyramids onto the frame. I opted for a drop of silicone (very little is needed).

Print & Installation suggestions 🌲

Printing is very easy, I suggest you clean the plate well to avoid adhesion problems. You can scale the model without any problems. For the final composition I suggest you use a frame (check my frame). Take advantage of the light points in the room where you will hang the frame, you will have a beautiful final effect.

Color used:

  • Bambulab PLA Basic Bambulab Green 🌲
  • Bambulab PLA Basic Mistletoe Green 🌲
  • Bambulab PLA Tough Pine Green 🌲
  • Bambulab PLA Matte Dark Green

Mathematical Background 🌲

To create the "valley" effect I thought of some symmetrical geometric formulas. I started with 100 pyramids, all the same. Then I moved the 100 vertices in 3 dimensions (x, y, and z) following this formula:

  • x = 10*abs(x), abs means absolute value
  • y = 10*abs(y)
  • z = 5+(abs(x-5)^2 + (y-5)^2)

How to align the pyramids

Each pyramid, numbered from 0 to 99, occupies a specific place. Here's what the grid looks like from above (first screenshot), and the grid from below (second screenshot).
