Blue Crab Size Check Tool

Description
Keep yourself a legal eagle! If you have ever been to the beach from New England down to the Carolinas (and further?) you know what I am talking about. Those good eats, blue crab! These are fun to catch (and eat) with your family and friends. Them Chesapeake locals will give you a good runabout which seasoning is best. (Shhhh… they all taste the same). Just make sure you use Heinz ketchup with your fries, ok?
Of course to be a responsible human means you must follow all fishing/crabbing/etc laws set forth by the jurisdiction in power wherever you are. I want my children's children's children's children (and so on) to be able to know and love animals. Don't be a loser. Hunt, fish, camp, do outdoor activities responsibly. Seek knowledge before you act.
We are heading to Virginia for vacation and would like to enjoy some crabbing. Hopefully we catch a bushel, but even if we only catch 2 total, it will be fun. Virginia has a 3.0 inch and 3.5 inch requirement at this time depending on certain variables. The last time we were at the Outer Banks (NC) it was 5.0 inches. These tools are quick and easy to print, have a hole for a keyring or carabiner, and state “Blue Crab X.X in” on the surface for quick reference.
NOTE: DON'T SCALE. These are designed to be about 1-2 mm OVERSIZED in the measurement area to compensate for wonky prints. The goal is to keep you a legal eagle while you show your kids how much of an awesome possum you are catching blue crab with a chicken leg.
If you really like these but the sizes I made aren't adequate in your area, comment and let me know what you need. I can easily modify and upload different sizes.
These things are readily available in fishing stores in blue crab areas. They can be had cheaply enough on ye olde Amazon. But hey I just enjoy printing, alright?
PRINTING:
My personal preference is:
.2 layer height
3 walls
3 top and bottom layers
15-25% infill
I prefer to print these in PETG because they will see the hot beachy sun. But PLA is alright too. I mean you are only measuring a crab with it…
