Description

Celebrate your sporting team and add even more fun to the proceedings. It's also just a great fidget!

This prints in place (PLA) and manages 92dB at the size in the profile with just 30g of filament. It would also make great party favours.

Printing

The printer does not remember flow calibrations between prints, so to reduce the chances of stuck print in place models such as this I recommend ensuring you tick that option. There is a 0.4mm tolerance though which should be enough, I've printed with 0.3mm and less without issue.

Strength

In testing I had some handles snap and thought I would need to adjust the design so it was wider at the pinch point, I tested more walls and infill but it kept snapping. In the end I discovered I had a couple of filaments (Admittedly a year or more old) that snapped easily at any point along the handle. I tested other prints and found the same issue, brittle along the layer lines, so I concluded that the filament just had poor layer adhesion.

I then went to a fresh roll of Bambu Basic PLA and the print settings in the profile and found that the handle was strong enough, I could bend it without it snapping so published with the current settings.

You may wish to increase the walls and infill depending on your filament, but it should not be necessary. I've read that walls add more strength than infill.

Customisation

The main profile is just one colour the other are examples of colour changes. To edit or create your own slice the model and then drag the vertical slider on the right to where you want the colour to change and right click. This brings a menu where you can add a colour change if you are using the AMS or add a pause if you want to do a manual colour change. To do so when the print pauses go through the menus and just unload and then load a new filament.

Disclamer

Use sensibly and at your own risk. I'm not responsible if you whack someone while enthusiastically celebrating! Or if it goes flying off and hits someone / thing.

it worked until my kid broke it, maybe with stronger infill or extra walls on the handle it would be better

Hmm. I had a couple break there during testing and tried 3 walls and 25% infill but they still broke. I then discovered that it was the filament I was using had very poor adhesion between layers. I switched to some new filament and back to the settings in the profile and then tried snapping the handle and found it strong enough that it did not snap without considerable force. I was relieved as I had another version that had a thicker handle at that point but it did not look as nice. So I am hoping that in this instance it’s the same issue. It’s the first time I had experienced this and tend not to blame filament etc but I have since tested other prints with the older filament and they have broken easily with little force. Thank you so much for still giving me a good rating. If you print something else ‘throw away’ with that filament give it a stress test and let me know how it compares with newer. All very subjective, but it helps me and others learn in this hobby. Actually if you still have the handle try breaking it in other locations, I found that it was relatively easy despite them being now shorter and fatter.

Replying to @trusteddev :
Rating is will deserved, the design it self is very good and the clicking sound brought up all kind of memories. Yet, as you brought up the issue with the filament it might be just that in my case, I used low cost PLA filament and it might be a different story with good brand PLA+ or even PETG.

I thickened the handle diameter a bit, lubricated the rotating parts and it works great.
