Inspired by Minecraft's diamond sword and pickaxe, and its transformable nature allowing switching between the two, I designed this miniature version for portability, making it a perfect accessory~

Please utilize the provided 3MF file for printing, however, employ your own material settings as our parameters may differ. Feel free to adjust the color for enhanced game accuracy.

For superior texture and vibrant colors, PLA is recommended; for increased durability, opt for PETG.

BOM: M4*2 neodymium magnets/5pcs

M1.5*5 cylindrical pins/13pcs

M1.5*10 cylindrical pins/8pcs

The metal pins and corresponding holes, as detailed in my configuration and assembly diagram markings, clearly indicate an interference fit assembly requiring no adhesive.

Can you please post a video to show assembly?

So cool, this is the first time I've made a piece that moves and transforms so smoothly. I didn't have copper pillars, so I adjusted the hole size to 2mm and used filament inserted as the axle. Non-moving parts were directly glued with super glue. I colored it with marker pens

Are magnets needed? Can it still function well without them?

The significance of the magnet lies in restricting the free sliding of parts

Awesome! thank you for responding so quickly. However, I found a flaw in your design. The angle at which the tips of the pickaxe must move are too steep, and the blade often gets stuck in one position. This may be because I used the enlarged print profile (120% HQ) but if not, could you please enclose any suggestion, directions, or maybe even another diagram. However, other people are printing it and it's coming out great for them, so IDK why this is happening to me.

When you scale a model up or down, its tolerances will change. For example, scaling it down reduces clearances, sometimes to the point where parts jam and cannot move. Scaling it up increases clearances, which can cause parts to deflect and result in jamming. Most other people probably encounter the same issue; they just don’t mention it. For deformable models, direct scaling is not recommended, as they almost always require a full redesign. Adjust dimensions while keeping tolerances constant.

Made a bigger one as a dagger. Great design!

This is an awesome engineering design. It was frustratingly small enough that assembly was impossible as I tried to put it together. I was making my own pins...that probably didn't help me. Maybe another couple years of experience under my belt and I'll be successful. Keep up the great designs!

Sorry, I don't quite understand the meaning of this sentence, is it that you can't find suitable metal pins

brilliant. printed again for second son. this time. I drilled out all the holes to 2mm so I can use filament as the rods (instead of cutting up 1.5mm IKEA nails!). superglued the rods into each component. compressed the filament with needle pliers to slim down where they need to slide. works better than the first, much smoother action

The author's ingenious design is commendable, however, assembly proved exceedingly challenging. I manually enlarged several key holes, employed six long and six short pins, and secured other connections with adhesive. The first assembly consumed over two hours, and the second nearly an hour and a half.

This is material-dependent, it is recommended to use your own material parameters
