Description

I've always wanted a magnetic accessory to attach to ironwork, and after half a day of searching all I could find was a small magnet and a magnetic boot, neither of which is what I wanted!

I was intrigued to see a magnetic suction model on Taobao and drew a foot with a 6x2mm round rubidium magnetic

The print configuration has been verified and normal sizes are fine.

If you want to print it enlarged, it is recommended that you add your own hole compensation. The pictures below show 100% (left) and 150% (right), where a hole compensation of 0.03 has been added to the model on the right.

It works really well.

Hi there! Nice design but for fairness, you should have mentioned that the first picture of the 2 magnetic designs you found in your search, it is actually 40 neodymium 2x1 magnets in total on the dummy, 6 on a single foot and not only 'a small magnet' as you mentioned (you can find the project of the picture here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/233378 ). I personally measured the magnetic attraction of the 6 magnets on the foot and it is stronger than some 6x2 single magnets (depends on the quality of the magnets you use). I have attached, for reference, a picture of it, hanging just on one foot. That was the only way to get enough magnetic attraction using the original parts of the design. By the way I understand that you probably needed the magnets just on the feet of your Dummy... the thing I do not personally like of your solution is that you loose the articulation on the tip of the Dummy 13 and that is why I still prefer the other design that keeps all the original armor parts... for the rest, you did a great job!!! PS: what is rubidium?

①You're right, I should have labelled the project link. ②Doing this does lose the foot end hinges of the dummy13, but only two neodymium magnets are needed for easier installation. It's just an attempt on my part.😄 PS: I made a typo, It should be neodymium magnets.

I agree! To put all those tiny magnets on a small part is not so easy and, as I wrote before, your design is great, both for effectiveness and for simplicity (related to the magnet installation). About the typo, thanks for your clarification, I was thinking about some sort of new magnetic material I wasn't aware of! :)

DONOT USE HEAT to install magnet, it will ruin the magnetism, GREAT foot though

Came out great, I scaled it to 125% though so I changed the magnet hole to fit an 8x2 magnet. I’ll try to post it as a mod
