Description

Note: This could leave polish marks/blemishes where the plastic rubs against the Switch. While it's minor and only cosmetic, be aware that it is a risk. Also, access to the USB while docked is partially blocked by the grip. If you use the dock usb a lot, something like a 90 degree USB adapter maybe beneficial.

UPDATE: Added a new version that's easier to print, requires less cleanup and supports, and allows access to the SD card.

I also added a version adjusted for the OLED Nintendo Switch, available here: https://www.printables.com/model/413917-nintendo-switch-handles-oled-version

Update: Added a version that can be docked without removing the grips.

I created this because I didn't love any of the existing designs. One has seams, screw holes, and etc. that I didn't care for. Another two piece would allow the actual switch unit to fall out the bottom of the grips if you weren't careful. So I designed this that basically combined ideas from each design that I did like.

This will fit on a 250 mm print bed if it is turned to the diagonal.

After confirming the original print was what I wanted and everything fit correctly, I split the model in 2 for smaller print beds. I haven't tested the 2 piece print but it should have enough tolerance on a well tuned printer so that the pieces have a snug fit (but not too tight or too loose). If anyone does do that 2 piece print let me know if anything needs changed.

For the two piece print I would orient the pieces as shown in the 4th (green) image with supports and at least a 5mm brim.

Print instructions

I printed this upright with a 5mm brim as well as supports. It will require a bit of post print cleanup. That will mostly consist of just smoothing what was printed on supports.

For the two piece print I would orient the pieces as shown in the 4th (green) image with supports and at least a 5mm brim.
