Description

The Secret locking (impossible) Dovetail Box

YouTube Short

This box looks like impossible to open, because it has a dovetail connection on all 4 sides.

The magic trick is to slide it diagonally when the pin is released.

You release the pin with a good clap on the bottom of the box.

It could take hours to get the trick to solve that puzzle Box for others.

Impossible Dovetail Box

This is not my invention, i see boxes like this in some online shops. I redesigned it from scratch, to support maker supply parts with a magnetic locking mechanism and gave the box the maximum space to store items, to make it usable.

You need 3pcs of Ø4x2 magnets and a M5 Bolt (Used as weight and secure the magnet)

The looking mechanism is only on one side, but the lid can be turned (2 locking holes)

  • To secure it, simple shake a bit and the magnet holds the pin in place
  • To release, hold the box in your hand and clap on the bottom of it.

Assembly:

First prepare the screw with the magnet. The screw act as weight and secure the magnet.
Screw it in the printed pin.
Take another magnet and use the prepared pin to insert it in the hole on the lid.
It's press fit, if you want take a drop of glue
Insert the pin to the hole. All done! You can close the lid!
