A garbage can printed in vase mode is often flimsy. Even if the designer puts some dents or creases in the wall, it remains a single wall rising up and typically allowing bending perpendicular to those creases, unless … we break the idea that the vase wall extrusion always needs to be supported by the layer below. Nothing stops a vase mode wall from bridging, so why not just switch to a “different” wall geometry every couple of mm thereby making the combined structure much more rigid.
I have applied that concept already in my purge bucket and my AMS silica gel containers, with great success, so it is time to think bigger … Introducing a (non-water tight, even aerated thanks to the many small openings) garbage can. Ideal for paper and other non-liquid trash. Can be printed in PLA, but PETG sticks better to itself and hence may be more sturdy.
Outer wall width of 0.60mm is ok, but of course the wider you can make this the more sturdy things get. With a 0.40mm nozzle an outer wall up to 0.80mm works fine. If you want to use a wider outer wall, you'll need a bigger nozzle, which in turn will close up the openings. If that's wanted, great for you. If not, then you could try using a scaled up version of my purge bucket instead.
