Description

Platonic solids are a class of three-dimensional shapes that are highly symmetrical, consisting of faces that are congruent regular polygons.

There are exactly five Platonic solids: the tetrahedron (4 triangular faces), the cube (6 square faces), the octahedron (8 triangular faces), the dodecahedron (12 pentagonal faces), and the icosahedron (20 triangular faces). These solids are unique in that they have identical vertices, edges, and angles, making them fundamental in the study of geometry and mathematics.

This model includs all 5 geometries.

A friend asked me to print him a set of platonic solids because the ones someone made for him previously weren’t all symmetrical. I used this model and created two versions: one set scaled so all edges are the same length, and another set scaled so all shapes share the same overall height. Hope he likes them! Great design, and thanks for sharing!

thanks you for your feedback. If you want you can upload your remix to that model. Then everyone can take profit from it!

I tried uploading the remix like you suggested, but MakerWorld won’t let me attach it. When I paste the model URL into the “Model Origin” field, I get this message: “Remixing is not allowed by this model’s license terms.” It looks like the current license on the model may be preventing remixes from being uploaded. If you’re okay with remixes, you might need to update the license settings on this model. Or, I can give you the files and you can add them directly to the original post. I am fine either way.

Perfect! I just needed this one for a project and it's the perfect size to twist and turn in my hands and really get a feeling for the geometry of this interesting shape.

Printed at the request of my grandson, who loves the concept of platonic solids. They printed beautiful.

this has such a fantastic octohedron, and a really dodecahedron too, the cube is definitely bigger than expected, but yeah, really great, best octohedron I've seen, literally my favorite shape
