Description

Conoidal Spiral Illusion

Interesting and fun for all ages!

 

 

 

Features:

  • A 2 piece design consisting of an inner and outer cone shaped spiral.
  • The inner cone can be inserted in any orientation and at either end of the outer cone.
  • Each time they pass through each other there is a full 360 degree twist.

Extra Info:

There are multiple sizes available in 4 separate print profiles;

  • Small
  • Medium
  • Large
  • Best Quality

All profiles are printed ‘by object’ meaning that 1 part will print in its entirety, before the other one starts.

 

The Outer Spiral:

The sized profiles are printed at a layer height of 0.2mm and print fairly quickly, but you may get some very slight curling of the overhangs. All of the example pictures were printed at 0.2mm and it can be a bit hit or miss whether you get a silky smooth motion.

 

This seems to depend on filament types/colours. All test I've done at this layer height have been fully functional but some have a little bit more resistance than others.

 

The best quality profile is printed at 0.08mm layer height and takes considerably longer to print. This will however produce smooth overhangs and the best chance at a perfect motion.

 

The Inner Spiral:

Layer height doesn't matter in terms of getting smooth overhangs with this. It will print perfectly at 0.2mm with no curling, however, using the best quality profile will still print this at 0.08mm layers for optimal quality.
