Description

The “Z-Finder” is one of the best semiprofessional tool hight sensors on the market, but it has one downside. The very small probing diameter of only 14mm, causing bigger tools to be meatured inaccurate due to the center relievecut.

This Guide allows to glue a 25mm valve shim concentric onto the Z-Finder to increase the probing Diameter.

What you need:

  • 25mm Valve Shim
  • metal glue ( I used Pattex liquid metal)
  • This guide ( I recommend PETG as it sticks very poorly to most glues)

Precedure:

  • Clean the surfaces of the shim and the Sensor.
  • Press the shim into the guide.
  • Apply a little metal glue to the top of the Sensor .
  • Put the Shim with the guide onto the Sensor sothat it alines.
  • Position your spindle with your largest Endmill (<24mm) on the shim and press it slightly down and let the glue set.
  • After the Glue is 100% dry, cut the guide open and remove it.
  • (optional) Meature it, to make sure it was successfull.

Now you can accurately meature tools up to 25mm as normally only way more expencive Sensors can do.
