Description

Recently I have gotten back into playing MTG and was stoked when I found out that there's Lord of the rings card packs now. Naturally with access to a 3D printer I of course instantly wanted to create some sort of commander deck box for all my cards and extras. While there was a lot of cool designs out there, I felt like none really matched what I was going for. After doing some digging around I found this dwarven gate by CMprinting on Thingiverse. I wanted to adapt this to be used for holding my commander deck and this was the outcome! I first adjusted the dimensions, then added some cubbies to allow me to have storage for not only my Commander deck but also to allow me to store extra cards, dice and so on that can be all in one place!

Edit: Per Request, I have now added 2 versions of the deck box to add a lid:

  • 1st version using tabs for the lid for those that have already printed the original version without a lid. (Confirmed fitment, works great and holds well)

  • 2nd version utilizes 8, 6x2 magnets 4 for the deck box and 4 for the lid. (This version hasn't been tested, but should work just fine. If anyone prints this version please let me know if any adjustments need to be made!)

All files uploaded separately to make life easy!

I designed this deck box to hold the following:

  • 1 commander display card (Tested with this single sleeve unsure if others fit please let me know if so!)
  • 100 standard single sleeve cards (with room for a bit more)
  • Numerous d20 dice, life counter, card box so on.

This is a pretty big print, taking about 9hrs total to finish but was designed to be printed on my A1 mini to make available for anyone.

Basic print settings recommended, just be sure to use tree supports for some slight overhangs.

Printed in a beautiful silk gold pla from Elegoo!

loved this one, only idea I had was take off the steps for a second one and put the lids bottom on the bottom of the box so they can be stacked, lol. that would blow me away.

interesting idea! only downside I could see is using supports on the bottom might make the print a bit difficult but sounds like a cool idea! Maybe I'll try messing around with this at some point!

Only thing I dislike is how thin the lid is, other than that. Very nice.

Thanks for the feedback, lid was definitely an after thought for sure and didn't put a ton of thought into the thickness of it. Will try to go back at some point to adjust that a tad.

Very neat deck box. Holds an entire commander deck and plenty of extra storage space. I printed the one without magnets and everything fits/looks great!
