Description

Here's a stand to hold your soldering iron on a dremel workstation drill press.
You can then insert threaded inserts into your 3D printed parts.

I had found some designs online, but they were flawed. So I decided to create my own.

I supply the Fusion360 file.
The design is parametric, with the possibility of entering the diameter of your soldering iron.

My soldering iron is 17 - 18 mm in diameter, and I supply the corresponding STL.

No support needed.

Printed without a problem on a BBL A1 using PLA-CF Burgundy Red (14200) and a .4 nozzle. Finish and fit is perfect, very happy indeed. Thanks for sharing your design.

Fits OK as-is with a Tenma 21-10115 (a relatively good quality but still low cost temperature controlled soldering iron - $40 to $80) . I didn't have an M3 nut handy so I used an M3 heat insert as a nut - I guess now the tool is assembled I can use it to redo a second one with the heat insert actually heat-inserted! Bit of a catch-22 there otherwise...:-) I printed it in ABS on the same plate as the heat-insert test ( https://makerworld.com/en/models/198751-test-and-calibration-for-brass-threaded-inserts ) using the parameters suggested for that piece.

Could modify it so easily to fit my soldering iron 👍

Printed this in ABS and it's fantastic. I used M2 screws and bolts but the bolts are too big for the holes. What size screws and bolts do we use?

My ruthex 900M soldering iron is 18mm thick and just barely fits in the holder, they could have left more room. Even the power cable just barely fits for me. Otherwise, not a demanding print. Thank you very much for providing the print file

printed beautifully. Just a heads up that I printed this with Bambu PLA Mayte Charcoal. not sure if it was the model itself or the shrinkage on the plastic, but the screw threads of my Dremel press did not pass through the holes of the model. instead there was an interference fit and I had disassemble the press a little bit to cut the screw threads into the plastic before reassembling the whole thing again. it was a quick fix without needing to modify the model, and took only a few extra minutes.. If you don’t want to do this yourself, I’d suggest double checking the thread OD on your press and verifying the holes in the model has enough clearance before printing. thank you for sharing this model!
