Description

Hey folks, this is my first model. Your feedback is much appreciated!

Summary

For those who are familiar with HueForge you will mostly be interested into these information:

  • This print uses 3 unique filaments: black, white and a color of your choice
  • Print at 100% infill with a layer height of 0.08mm with a base layer of 0.16mm
  • You may print at higher layer heights below the Min Depth of 0.48mm.
  • Swap Instructions:
    • Start with Black
    • At height 0.56mm swap to White
    • At height 1.04mm swap to Black
    • At height 1.12mm swap to Pink/Orange/Red e.g.
    • At height 1.92mm swap to White for the rest.

I added an extra height of 0.24mm to make it less floppy. Feel free to remove this height from the back to save some filament.

Additional information

To print this HueForge, no AMS is needed. Just slice it, navigate in the “Preview”-Tab to the desired layer and right-click on the slider. Now you can choose to either change the filament to a certain one or add a pause. When the 3D-printer has paused you can manually load the next filament.

Filaments used as seen in the pictures:

  • Extrudr PLA NX2 black (low TD)
  • Polymaker PolyTerra Cotton White (medium TD)
  • Rosa3D PLA Starter Neon Orange (high TD)
  • Devil Design PLA Emerald Green (high TD)
  • Jayo Silk PLA+ Red Copper (low TD)

I used the stand of @PenolopyBulnick in the pictures: https://makerworld.com/en/models/153050#profileId-167215 (size: large)

If there are any questions left please feel free to ask.

Update 2024-06-29

Updated the print-profile to V2 with reduced speeds. It is now based on the standard profile 0.08mm High Quality @BBL A1 and should work out-of-the-box (at least for the A1). If you already have your custom settings for HueForge you are good to use them instead. Please share your results :)

And now: Happy printing!

Please share your prints and show me your favorite color of the Flamingo :)

I made this for my Aunt's birthday and she loved it. She's into flamingoes but she only uses them for decoration at her summer house not at home really. I decided to do a flamingo anyway but match the body color to her decor color and it came out beautifully. Awesome last minute gift, I love 3D printing! Boosted ♥️

i am going to try a different printer but the first couple layers go down fine and then it looks like wet filament after that. for the last black or white layer. I need to watch it closer. just posting this here to see if anyone else had issues. thanks.

Thanks for downloading and printing! Maybe you can add a photo and some more information about your settings? (which printer, which slicer, which settings...) I've used other generic/no name PLA in black and white for this Flamingo as well (not seen on my photos) and there was no issue with stringing etc. at all.

I slowed down to 50% and it turned out great. i also changed the infill to aligned rectilinear. i think slowing down fixed it. i just used the settings in the profile. bambu slicer. one layer would go down perfect, next one would look like wet filament. it was weird. i will get a photo.

it’s lovely but my Bambu A1 didn’t pause at the colour changes, Do I need to add the pauses manually?

Hi and thanks for your interest in this model! I've described the process of changing colors (very briefly) in the Additional information-part. If you are using an AMS, you have to add a change of color at a certain height; if you don't have an AMS you have to add a pause instead. Here you can find some more information and a picture of it: https://forum.bambulab.com/t/change-filament-at-layer-height/7954

How do I use this with my AMS capable printer? I'm only seeing the first color on the preview in Bambu tudio.

Here you can find some more information and a picture of it: https://forum.bambulab.com/t/change-filament-at-layer-height/7954 When you are done with "coloring" you have to slice again! Now you can move the slider in the Preview-Tab and you can see the different colors.

Very nice print. My friend's mom loved it. I did end up printing it at 50% speed and it came out great. Thanks.
