Description

Summary

This design is a printed out of plane rotational stage (i.e goniometric stage) capable of a positioning accuracy in the order of 10 micron. Besides 3D printed parts it uses 8 693ZZ and two MR95-zz ball bearings, one M5 and various M3 bolts with nuts and hot melt inserts. The complete fabrication process is described in an instructable: https://www.instructables.com/Build-a-3D-Printed-Goniometric-Stage-tilt-Correcti/

I have a quick demonstration video here: https://youtu.be/pMDN6k8GMak

I also designed various linear stages and a micromanipulator compatible with this model, all the files and building instructions are available here:

Is it possible to print this at double size (to be 130x130) and still have the threads work? ie use a M10 bolt or threaded rod or does this not convert quite so easy as that? If not, would you be open to modelling a custom size platform?

Hello, scaling directly will not work well because many elements don't scale exactly. If you really need i can help you make a scaled up version. In this case i need a list of the screws, inserts and bearings you want to use with their exact dimensions. Look for about double the size and i'll do the adjustments to make it fit. I would also need some time so that would be for 1 or 2 weekends after i get the list.

In that case its possible to do custom size, it doesn't need to be exactly 2X

Hey Remi, thanks for replying - so about the delay. I will have a look at that now and your existing parts and come back to you shortly. It would be amazing to have an adjusted model to print and work with. I was wondering if it would be possible to 'add' another part underneath the goniometer which would be a simple incline angle adjuster operated by a similar turning knob mounted on the same side as the goniometre one? Ill do a quick sketch and see if this is something which is feasible for you?
