Features

Round parts (bolt, pin and clip) are 100% round by standing upright.
No glue is required. Assemble and you're done.
It's a real M6.6x1.5 screw! Tolerance is very tight, you'll have to use a real wrench to tighten it.
Minimal use of supports, only the bolt needs supports. Clever use of mini supports on the base.
Optimized for minimal filament use. The pin and base are completely hollow and do not need supports.

The print profiles use "Print sequence: By object" to make it easy to print in 4 colors without a purge tower. I used Bambu PETG Basic Blue, Black, Gray and Red.

Designed to be printed in PETG. You can print in PLA but the colors will fade within a few months.

What's new in V2?

My hitch got stolen so I decided to redesign a new version while printing it again, published on 2024-10-17.

Added 1.25" and one 2" that is 4" long for people using extenders.
Added cross section inside to make it stronger while keeping printing speed high and filament use low.
Tweaked the mini supports to be even easier to print and remove.

Love the idea. I brought the hole for the pin about an inch closer to the top though so that it was more flush with the reciever. However in a few months I went through about 10 of them due to kids and people in carparks brushing past them and snapping them off. My solution was to print the towbal in TPU, and after a few weeks it is still holding firm.

I made it last night, however the ball and nut were not the same size or something. The nut seemed slightly too small. I tried to put it on anyways and ended up breaking the screw part off the bottom of the ball. This was my first PETG print so might have done something wrong. I will try it again tonight.

print quality was great, however I would suggest adding a brim to the pin. it kept trying to fall over at the same place, I got it to print but I had to switch to silent mode just before it got to the failure point. but it works and will keep debris out of my hitch and get some laughs.

printed well. nut was a bit too tight so I had to print the separate profile but looks great installed!
