Description

Keeping filament dry is essential for optimal 3D printing. While traditional containers fit inside the spool’s center, they’re not ideal for use with vacuum bags, as they can seal off airflow and give inaccurate humidity readings.

This custom-designed silica box sits directly on the filament, effectively lowering the surrounding humidity. A humidity sensor can be placed next to the silica for accurate readings. The box holds approximately 20 grams of silica, perfect for a single spool. For added flexibility, there’s also a version without a sensor slot to increase silica capacity.

  • Rotatable Sensor: Adjusts 90° for vertical or horizontal storage.
  • Universal Fit: Designed to fit most spools, even when full.

Now also works with hydrometer from Bambu Lab!

It turned out very well. I added a filament clip – now the box also stays in place.

Do you mind share the model, I like the idea to be able to hook on the rim

I believe it looks like they printed a filament clip separately (looks to be a clippy) and super glued it on

Love this! Works perfect, I have most of my filament at 15% humidity now :) Having the smaller piece for the opposite side of the spool roll insures full coverage. Thank you!

I use spool cores most of the time in my vac bags. I wanted dessicant and a hygrometer by the filament inside the bag to get a visible reading. Thank you.

While I take zero credit for the model design, I'm glad my PETG print profile for the A1 Mini helped! Thanks for the comment and rating it.

Works really great! The only issue is that my hygrometers seem to be a bit different, they have the notch placed vertically and horizontally, so it shows tilted in this model. No big deal

Print works well and the lid is a tight snap fit (PLA) for the holder w/o hygrometer. I would find larger sectors (i.e. 45 degrees) useful rather than printing out two or three of the smaller ones per spool. I'm a newbie so I'm not sure how much dessicant is necessary to keep the filament dry after a session in the dehydrator. The photo shows a Hatchbox PETG spool with two containers sealed in a 1-gallon Foodsaver vacuum bag.

I only have the one with the humidity sensor and it is keeping the filament dry just fine.

It was difficult to mount the hygrometers sourced from Bambu Labs. And after a few hours they all cracked. Design seems good and well thought out. Lids fits really well and sticks well in place. But need a slight adjustment to accomodate the Bambu Labs hygrometers.

Just an easy print, everything fits perfectly. Now my rolls are not only packed away but also protected from moisture. Thank you very much for your great work.
