Description

A while back I put up a Nuka Cola Wall Lamp which was very well received. But I also got a few comments from people who where simply not satisfied with the size - they wanted more!

And here it is!

A new and improved version redesigned on a much grander scale. This time there is only one limit - the edge of your build plate. This Nuka Cola Bottle Cap wall lamp span a colossal 245mm in diameter (~9.6 in)!

Both the lamp and base are redesigned for this format and will sit perfectly on your wall. And best of all - the Bambu Lab LED light kit 001 fits snuggly in the center. I've also adjusted the print settings to print the rounded edge with lower layer height to make it smoother.

Please leave a review if you print, I look forward to seeing your result!

Don't forget to check out my other designs (including a few more Fallout themed such as my ginormous bottle cap).

PS. The yellow tint in some of the pictures is an artifact from the photos and does not show up in real life. I'm sure someone better versed in illumination can tell me why.

One of my employees is a big fan of Fallout 4 (he's yet to play Fallout 3 and New Vegas) and I am a fan of all of them. His birthday is Saturday so I printed him this as a present along with the lamp kit. He really loves the lamp and I have to admit I do too (which means I'm printing one for myself as well). Looks great and printed well and there were no problems with the back plate attachment. Thanks!

I spent far too much time and filamemt designing and prototyping this. I'm doing this in my spare time after work, the night I have the energy. still trying to learn how to design in a good way. I too love Fallout and wanted to see if I could make this idea into something good. But after the fact I wasn't sure I could justify all the time I spent. Reading your post made it all worth it! If I can help spread joy to you and your friend - strangers across the world; then I'm more than happy I put in the time! Thank you for writing! Tell your friend happy birthday from me! PS. From one manager to another - doing this this tells me you are great at your job and I'm sure your team is happy to have you!

I really like the lamp! I couldn’t get the fillets to print cleanly, so I turned to sandpaper. It might be too much overhang, but the PLA matte from Bambu hasn’t been a super smooth experience, so that’s also a suspect. Also, this hasn't to do with the print profile, but can be a useful tip: I had to reprint it a few times, since bits of the red filament dropped on the white and fused between layers. I simply watched the print when the filament switched and picked up pieces with tweezers.

That looks amazing. I really like the dark red you chose! As for filament bits I doubt that's related to the design/profile. Check your retraction settings would be ky suggestion. The fillets are a bit tricky, I got it as good as possible without making the deisgn look forced. Once on the wall I don't notice but a bit of sanding is of course always an option. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! I like red color from Bambus PLA matte more than I thought I would. :-) I agree, it was meant as a tip for anyone printing these kind of lamps really. I rewrote the comment to make this clearer. Also, thanks for the tip about checking the retraction settings!

great model. I had these battery powered pucks from another project but they didnt quite fit. so I cut off the walls of the light holder and super glued the back plate of the light to the solid portion. works great.

Looks amazing! Since you glued them i guess it's too late... but if you give me the measurements i could make a new profile for the back plate based on those.

This is one of the coolest prints I have done so far!😍 That said, mistakes were made on my part as a noob. First of all I couldn't print this design in the Handy app from the original profile (error code) or the Bambu Studio (prime tower too close). I was getting warnings preventing me from printing on my new P2S. With some help from the creator, and investigating further with a YouTube video, I was able to move the prime tower slightly off of the printable area. This allowed me to print—FINALLY! ...but wait, my second mistake, was getting a light from IKEA—which fits perfectly by the way; except for the side plug, I forgot to account for.😵‍💫 I was able to cut a piece AFTER printing. Despite my newbie mistakes, and lack of knowledge, the design is beautiful and I cannot wait to print another one for my nephew! His mind will explode. Thank you to the creator for such a cool and functional design! My whole family loves it.❤️

Wow! Thank you so much for your kind words! This is what make me put my designs up for everyone to use. I'm literally at a loss of word how happy this made me! If you can tell me the measurement needed to take away for the IKEA light I'd be happy to put up a version adapted for it. The cable itself seem a bit thicker as well so perhaps a the outer frame need a deeper groove too? Again, thank you for your kind words! I hope your nephew will be just as happy!

Oh, that would be a nice option. FULL DISCLOSURE: makers need to be aware this specific IKEA light doesn't have a switch on the cord; it's a push light (push the puck, it turns on or off). That said, it can be unplugged at the brick to turn it on and off as well. The default is always "On", so when users plug it back in, it is ON. If you still think it is worth adding, I have attached images with measurements and different angles. The outlet on the puck light is 10.5mm. the cord is 3.5mm. It potrudes past the ring by a hair if up against the wall - so not sure if that is worth changing. Thanks again for such a cool design. When I showed my husband, he said, "That's f#@king awesome!" 😝 Emphasis on the expletive!

Made a double sided ring, and printed the shell twice, and hung it, came out awesome. some artifacts probably from badly dried filament, but it adds to the fallout feel =)

Thanks nice work. Yea the smooth plate really makes it shine. This makes me want to do one with the texture plates. A nuka quantum with the star texture etc etc.

A bit more work to get that design to look good, but I'll make a note in my long list if ideas (sadly much a shorter list of things I find time to do). But who knows - I might feel inspired one day!

looks great! Had issues with the start of the hanging layers but that’s probably just my filament. Even with that, looks amazing.
