Description
OpenSCAD project to create vacuum hose connectors.
Intended for generating connections that would allow connecting vacuum hoses and tools of different diameters together.
Parametric settings support a few connections types. The connections types can be used on ether end of the adapter.
The project is actively maintained by myself. Please submit bugs and suggestions at the GitHub repo. ostat/vacuum-hose-adapter-openscad.
Connector types
Hose connector The hose connector is the most generic connector. Its intended to be pushed inside a hose or over an existing connector. We can enable a stop to prevent the adapter being pulled in to the hose, and barbs for soft style pipe.
Options
Length
The length of the connection end
Diameter
Internal or external diameter of the intended connector.
Intended for creating a quick removable connection. Allowing the hose to be quickly moved form device to device. The magnets should be slightly recessed so that the two faces get a good seal, allow extra depth if you want to avoid supports.
Main setting:
Flange diameter: Internal diameter of the flange connection.
Flange thickness: The overall thickness of the flange. Magnet thickness plus 4mm seem to work well.
Connector length: The length of the connector before the tapered section will start.
Magnet count: Number of magnets to be added to the flange.
Magnet diameter: Diameter of the magnets (add 0.5 to measurement).
Magnet border: The amount material around the magnet.
Magnet thickness: Thickness of the magnets (add 0.5 to measurement, 1.0 to avoid supports).
lip: If an alignment ring should be supported, can be recessed or protruding, suggest recessed.
Fixed connectors
Connectors that are not configurable as they are designed to be compatible with an existing connector type.
Updated 2024 to add support for an adapter with three different connectors.
When using the Hull transition. You have the option to add a center adapter. This third adapter can be, end1, end2 or end3. (previously it could only be end2)
Hi, sorry to say the script can’t do that. It only supports two connector sizes per model.
What you could do, is make a 120 inside to 120 outside x2. Then a separate 120 to 50.
it’s a common request, I need to consider supporting it.
I accept pull requests ;).
I do plan on doing it.
I intend to add it as an option to the hose connector.
Adding threads is not that hard. It’s figuring out how to have logical and standards based config.
Its a good idea, I have been meaning to add a thread option to the hose connector. Adding the threads is not too hard. Its understanding how to configure them to make them useful that I get stuck on.
It is on my list though.
This instrument is fantastic, simply a miracle, thank you for your efforts. If possible, it would be great if you add a tool - a tape measure. For quick measurement of diameters, radii and lengths.
If you use the OpenSCAD app on our desktop, I have an option to show the dimensions when in preview mode. The web tool does not support preview.
there are details and examples here.

Looks very interesting, but is there any info on what to do with the stuff on GitHub? Is there an installer or something. Sorry I not a programmer, also I have no knowledge of OpenSCAD.. Thanks for your help..
You are right I need to sort out the doco in that regard.
However you know you can run the script directly in the browser using the customise button. It’s the easiest way to get going if you don’t have exp with GitHub and OpenSCAD.
