When starting the design of this jewelry box, I set out with one goal; make is as good looking as possible. The box features two compartments, the top is accessible via a lid and the bottom is a drawer that slides out. Some notes and features:
- When closed, the lid is completely flush with the top of the box, leaving a nice clean look.
- The hinges do not protrude beyond the box, they are integrated.
- All parts print as a single color, no AMS required.
- No glue required, it was designed with tight tolerances so that pieces are press fitted together.
- The handle requires two screws, I used #6 wood screws with a length of 5/8", I recommend you do the same.
- The hinge requires two pins of 2mm x 22mm (can be found on Maker Supply, I used the brass ones).
- The part called “Top-Base” is optional, print it if you want to have a fully closed box (like the one pictured) or omit it if you want the top compartment to be see-thru from the Kumiko pattern part.
Assembly instruction
- Start by assembling the 3 parts that make up the lid (Top Pattern, Top Base and Top-Outer). They all fit together with a press fit.
- Install the two pins through the holes on the Top-Outer part. They are also press fit. Center them.
- Take the main part called “Structure” and slide the assembled lid into place. The pins fit in the slots at the back.
- With the lid in the open position, add the tray (press fit) which will prevent the lid from coming out.
- Add the bottom (press fit).
- Install the handle on the front part of the drawer with the screws.
- Install the front part of the drawer to the drawer itself (press fit).
- Slide drawer in.
Additional notes:
- The box pictured has slight differences from the model uploaded, I adjusted minor items to improve it after the initial print.
- Due to the tight tolerances between parts, I can't guarantee that scaling this will yield good results.
