Description

Bought a used Subaru that had the wheel lock key and 4 regular lugnuts in the blister pack in the glove box. Since the key may be needed to change a flat, and the wheel locks should never be used with spare tires, or with steel wheels (which my winter tires are on) I liked having them in the glove box, but it annoyed me how much space the blister pack took up.

So I made this compact little box to store the wheel lock key and 4 lug nuts, or 4 wheel locks in a MUCH smaller amount of space. Hope this model helps you keep your glovebox organized too!

I printed in PETG and so far it has held up to the temps just fine, though YMMV. Lids printed well with the text on the build plate.

To assemble put the two pieces together and just slide a piece of 1.75mm filament through the lid and the main box, then cut the ends. If the filament slides out too easily I found just crimping one end lightly with a pair of pliers before sliding it all the way in should hold it in place.

Great Model but I have 5 lug nuts with the lock so I used your Idea and made one with a magnetic top

Worked perfectly. Its a little hard to open once locked but I'm sure the more I play with it, it will loosen up.

Glad it worked for you! I figured tighter was better considering how infrequently it gets opened, but how often I go rummaging around in there like a drunk bear. Enjoy!

This is literally the perfect print. It solves the problem of how to store this perfectly.

Subaru started recommending this as an option, which meant I needed extra storage space. This is a good idea for saving storage space. Thank you! By the way, I used 2mm dowel pins instead of filament for the hinges.
