Description

Do you like an icy cold can on a long hot drive?

You have a source of cold air coming from the vents, so I designed this can chiller to harness that power and route it around your favourite beverage.

Print out the chiller and then choose hooks from the sheet of hooks (delete the ones you don't need before you print). There are hooks for vertical and horizontal slatted vents and they ratchet into the chiller to keep it safely connected to the vent. Not all vents are created equal, so there are a choice of normal width and kinky hooks for narrower vents. I've included a handy tool to help push the hooks into the base. I found rotating the vent one way to push the hook in and the other to pull the hook onto the louvre worked best, and also works when trying to get the hook back out.

To help support the weight of the can there is a choice of two bottom supports that rest on the bottom of the vent, the bottom supports can be flipped to raise or lower the chiller to line up best with the vent. I didn't want to risk them coming loose, so they are a solid fit, just push hard on the hexagons to get them into the chiller body.

Everything is self supporting except the narrow horizontal hooks, but they just need the tiniest bit of tree support which lets go really easy. Once you have printed the chiller body, push the tabs in to click them free of the built in supports.

I've started making chillers with car logos but can't add them as profiles until I can say it prints fine. I don't have a car of each kind so am not gonna print them out but I made the 3mf files using the same settings as the ones I did test print. So if you want to try one out you can download the pre-prepped 3mf or the raw stl files by choosing "Download STL" files from the drop down on the DOWNLOAD OR PRINT button above. If you print one of the branded ones, please upload the print profile so others can just choose it from the list.

Cheers everyone!

Excellent and well-designed holder, printed in PETG The beverage can is cooled so effectively that it even drips on the outside I have designed inserts for 250ml cans and 330ml cans (the tall ones) so that the can does not wobble in the holder, but air circulation for cooling is still possible https://makerworld.com/en/models/1642957-adapter-for-500ml-beverage-cans-to-250ml-330ml#profileId-1736221

Printed this on my A1 using PLA mid December. Installed in a 2019 Equinox, driver’s side. Recently hit a bump with a half bottle of water and the upper connector’s released and it fell. Dont know if you can see it in the picture but the holders seem to have warped a little allowing the connections to slip out. I’m going to reprint it using PETG which I understand is tougher in the heat. I really like the design and was looking forward to seeing how well it cools drinks this summer.

Wish I had a Tesla Model Y so I could tell you.. :) Looking at pictures I don't think it would be possible to make any clips to attach to the front vent. It does look like the rear vent would be fine with the vertical slat hooks, and the extra short bottom support though.
