Description

This is my version of the Ocarina of Time in Alto C .

How does it sound?

Thanks to Denis Kovalev for making this video.

The Ocarina

It is designed to be printed.

The internal design helps to reduce airy high notes( Better sound, no Acute Bend).

It is tuned: A4 up to F6

Standard 12-hole fingering

All holes closed for A4, all holes open for F6

For A4 the required air pressure is low , more opened holes need more air pressure to hit the note.

I print them with:

  • 0.4 mm nozzle
  • 2 walls
  • 0.2 mm Layer height
  • 4 Top and Bottom layers
  • Wall Ordering: Outside To Inside - Walls before Infill.
  • 20% Infill - Gyroid
  • 5mm Brim
  • No Support
  • Orientation on the moutpiece

Glue the Triforce

The Position of the Triforce when the mouthpiece is pointing upwards:

U: upper segment

R: right segment

L: left

I've printed several of the ocarinas available on Maker World, and this is easily the best one. It's the only I've found so far in which all of the notes sound without advanced tricks like extreme breath control or a very exaggerated acute bend. the lowest notes are a bit tricky to get in tune, but that's the case for nearly all ocarinas. The high notes blow easily and cleanly and that's the biggest accomplishment of this instrument. Have you thought about designing a double ocarina? That would be incredible! I'm an experienced player and would be happy to help with prototyping and development. Thanks for this great model.

Sure, I thought about it. But at the moment I am working on another Alto C, and after that I want to make a bass C. I don't want to promise anything. So yeah, it is on my list of things I could make.

Have you calibrated that filament? Which is your K value? Also may be because your printer is the A1 mini you need to increase the brim

Hi, thanks for the message :) I've only had my A1 mini for 2 weeks and have only been dealing with 3D printing since then. So I'm still a beginner in this field. The filament was BambuLab PLA Translucent blue and I set it accordingly as the material used during printing. So it should be fine. The rest of it is printed cleanly too. I can't say anything about the K-value, that's automatically set during the dynamic flow calibration, I thought. And what do you mean by "increase of the brim"? Best regards, Martin

Congrats for your new printer then!! For many filaments you need to calibrate even the ones from BambuLab. I had a lot of problems with their PLA Matte I changed a lot of settings to get smooth results. I haven't tried their Translucent PLA but I suggest you check how to calibrate filament so you can obtain the best possible results and prints. Also be sure to keep your filament dried and away from humid areas otherwise you can have many problems with it. Best Regards!!

Awesome print!! I'm really glad you like it, it took me a lot of time to achieve the best settings for that smooth surface. By the way I don't know if you already glued them but the yellow triangles are upside down, the letters should look down and the smooth surface up.

Hi there friend! Just saw your comment I didn't know you replied :'( I did some modifications to the print profile so it can be printed with a super smooth surface and hidden seam, I uploaded it so you can use it. My other ocarina is nice but is a remix of and old Thingiverse design I wish it was mine, it looks nice and sounds good but the holes are huge only may be for L-XL size hands haha

This was so fun to make! Sadly, I didn’t have the right colors but it still turned out beautiful. Can’t wait to surprise my boyfriend with this!

Awesome print friend thanks! I'm glad you like it. The small triangles must be glued the other way so the flat surface looks to the outside.
