How do color changes work in support material The same filament is used there as for the model

Just printed the barrel birdhouse and for the most part it turned out great. Great detail on the house and the bottom supports popped right off. The only issue I had was when I removed the support in the hole it tore off a small square piece off of the top of the hole. Still functional for sure but not suitable for the gift I wanted to give.
